Allison Rafferty was a Paramedic in Charge (PIC) assigned to Ambulance 61. She was introduced in Season 2 as Dawson's replacement while she was training to become a fire fighter. She is later suspended and is not seen again.

Initially, Rafferty seems distant toward Shay. When Shay confronts her, Rafferty reveals that her partner at Ambulance 24 was a lesbian and used to make phone calls to her girlfriend that made Rafferty uncomfortable. In her second episode appearance, it is revealed she was a resident physician at Chicago Med but dropped out when her fiance developed Hodgkin's lymphoma; he died six months later.

In Tonight's the Night, Dawson thinks that Rafferty gave her the stink eye. Rafferty however explains that it was due to feeling inadequate about having to fill Dawson's shoes in the firehouse. However after a woman stops breathing, she works with Dawson on saving a woman who suffered a heart attack. Dawson then later gave her the credit in saving the woman and a complement.

At the end of Season 2, Rafferty is suspended for treating a patient against their will. As a result, Dawson regains her position as Paramedic in Charge on Ambulance 61.
